Principle

mageba RESTON-SPHERICAL bearings ensure the controlled transfer of forces between a structure’s superstructure and its substructure. They also enable rotations about every axis and movements in every direction. A convex curved element, sliding on a matching concave surface, transfers vertical forces while allowing the required rotations.

Application

RESTON-SPHERICAL bearings are suitable for use in structures which require the transfer of medium to high loads, and for structures whose bearings must endure large cumulative sliding movements - such as suspension bridges which are susceptible to wind forces. This bearing is designed smaller than any other bearing type, due to the high-strength, high-durability sliding material used at its heart. This feature is of particular interest where space is limited.
